Increase Image Size in KB

Some forms reject a photo for being too small: "minimum 20 KB", and your file is 14 KB. This tool raises a JPEG to at least the size you need without changing a single pixel, so it looks exactly the same. It runs on your device; nothing is uploaded.

or drop it anywhere in this box

JPG, PNG, WebP, HEIC, GIF, BMP, SVG, AVIF · everything runs on your device, nothing is uploaded

Match the portal's rule

Everything runs in your browser using the HTML5 Canvas — your photo is never uploaded to any server.

About 2.0 MB, saved once on this device. Then it works with no internet.

How to increase a photo's KB size

  1. Tap Choose image above and pick your photo or signature.
  2. On the Exact KB tab, type the form's minimum in the target box (for example 20).
  3. Make sure the rule says At least target (minimum-size rules). It's already set on this page.
  4. Tap Compress to target, then Download result. The file is now at least that size.
  5. If the form also has a maximum (for example 20–50 KB), check the result is under it. If you have a preset for your form, use that instead: it handles both ends.

Forms that set a minimum size

A minimum is there to stop blurry, over-compressed uploads. These are the minimums we've verified:

India passport (Passport Seva)10 KB250 KB
UPSC photo20 KB200 KB
SSC signature10 KB20 KB
UPSC 2026 signature20 KB100 KB

How it works, and why it's safe

A JPEG file can contain comment sections that image viewers skip. The tool first saves your photo at high quality; if that's still under the minimum, it adds comment sections of exactly the size needed. The picture data isn't touched, so the image looks identical and has the same dimensions, and the file really is the size it reports, which is what portals check.

Because forms count a kilobyte as either 1,000 or 1,024 bytes, PixKB adds enough for the stricter reading: a 20 KB minimum gives a file of at least 20,480 bytes, which passes either way.

What not to do

Minimums and maximums together

Many forms set a range (UPSC's photo is 20–200 KB). Too small fails just like too big. If your file is over the maximum, use reduce image size in KB; if it's under the minimum, use this page; for a known form, the form presets handle both in one step.

Frequently asked questions

How do I increase the KB size of a photo without changing it?

Choose "At least target", type the minimum and compress. The tool adds hidden comment data to the JPEG, so the photo and its dimensions stay exactly the same while the file reaches the size you need.

Will the form detect the padding?

It's a standard part of the JPEG format that every viewer is built to skip, and the file size is genuinely what the form measures. Forms check size, dimensions and format; all three are valid.

Does increasing the KB improve quality?

No. It only raises the file size to meet a rule. For better quality you need a better original photo.

Can I increase the size of a PNG?

The tool outputs JPEG, which is what forms with KB minimums almost always ask for. A PNG is converted to JPEG in the process.

My form says 20–50 KB. Which tool do I use?

If your file is under 20 KB, this one with a 20 KB target. If it's over 50 KB, reduce image size in KB with a 50 KB target. A form preset, if there is one for your form, handles both.

Why does my signature come out below the minimum?

Black ink on white paper compresses very well, so even a large scan can be tiny. Padding is the right fix: it doesn't change how the signature looks.

Does 20 KB minimum mean 20,000 or 20,480 bytes?

It depends on the form. PixKB makes the file at least 20,480 bytes, which satisfies both.

Will it change the photo's dimensions?

No. Width and height stay exactly as they were.

Is my photo uploaded?

No. The tool runs in your browser and saves the result straight to your device.

Can I do several files at once?

Yes. Drop several images and they're processed together; the results download as one ZIP.
